CLINICAL SERVICES
DSRC
provides a wide range of clinical services in the Region of
Waterloo. These services are generally offered in group sessions, through
workshops and
educational programs, and more directly through consultation with
caregivers.
Our clinical services include
assessment and consultation in the areas of
Psychology,
Behaviour,
Speech and Language,
Social Work and
Health Care.
SERVICE
COORDINATION
Adult Service Coordination:
Adult service coordinators assist individuals in assessing strengths and needs and
coordinating community supports and resources, providing individual/systemic
advocacy, and with problem-solving and guidance. Participation in the program is
entirely voluntary, and is based on the consent of the individual.
Children's Service
Coordination:
Children's Service Coordination is available to families of children who have a
developmental disability and live within Waterloo Region. It assists
parents by strengthening their ability to manage the challenges of caring for
their child with a developmental disability. It can also enhance their
formal and informal networks of community resources. Participation is
voluntary.
Youth Service
Coordination:
Youth Service Coordination assists young adults with a developmental
disability to plan for adulthood. It assists individuals to access
needed supports and programs, solve problems, and participate in the
community as fully as possible through a comprehensive service
coordination approach. Participation in the program is voluntary.
SERVICE RESOLUTION
Service
resolution, formerly known as case or crisis resolution, was another MSWP
mandate. DSRC identifies individuals in most urgent need of support, and looks
to facilitate short-term stabilization with a linkage to long-term planning and
placement, when needed. Individuals
identified through service resolution typically are seeking emergency respite
support or long-term residential placement.
